Improving your self-regulation

If self-awareness – knowing and understanding your own emotional responses – is the first stage in achieving emotional awareness, self-regulation is the second. Self-regulation is all about how you manage yourself and your emotions, inner resources and abilities. It is basically about taking responsibility for yourself and what you do and feel.

Self-regulation includes self-control, being conscientious and trustworthy, being adaptable and flexible in response to change, and being able to innovate and develop new ideas. In other words, it is not just about controlling yourself, but also what you do with your resources, or how you make the most of yourself and what is available to you.

Self-regulation or, as it is also known, self-management, is an essential part of emotional intelligence. Unless you truly understand and appreciate your own emotions and resources, and know how best to use them ethically and in the right way, you will never be able to relate fully and completely to others.

There is more about self-regulation in our eBook on Understanding and Developing Emotional Intelligence, available from the Skills You Need shop, or you can find out more from our Self-Management page.

PROCRASTINATION(dictionary meaning):
..To be slow or late about doing something that should be done : to delay doing something until a later time because you do not want to do it, because you are lazy, etc.

Let me say that we Procrastinate because we think there is time for instance: I will do it later or tomorrow. As human being we do these every time,

We procrastinate through our brain: 1. prefrontal cortex(want to work) 2. Limbic System (want to play)

Some of us are not even aware that our subconscious mind process 95% of what we do in life, so be conscious (be deliberate..)

Let me say that we have to be conscious of what and what we do or have to do per time.
“We should always attach consequence to our actions”

1. Fear of the outcome
2. Helplessness in the face of complexity
3. Laziness
4. Lack of motivation
5. lack of focus
6. Not knowing where or how to start
7. Perfectionism is a good thing to have FEAR but Face Everything And Rise.
The best way I’ve found to defeat fear is to STARE IT DOWN.

Don’t be afraid of complexity but break it down and start with that, don’t be lazy, motivate yourself when others are not, ask questions and don’t wait forever for perfection (practice makes perfect)

1. You will lose precious time.
2. You will blow opportunities
3. You won’t be able to meet goals
4.  You could ruin your career or life
5. You will Lower your self-estremote
6. You will make poor decisions
7. You will damage your reputation
8. You will risk your health or life

To breakout from Procrastination.
1. Change your mindset (strategy)
2. Believe in yourself that is possible
3. Change your limiting believe

Great LEADERS know how to make their ATTITUDE their ALLY.

LEADERSHIP is the ability to make your ATTITUDE work positively for you.

ATTITUDE is the way you ACT, THINK and TREAT those around you.

The ATTITUDE you choose is going to INFLUENCE everything that happens to you.

You can’t display NEGATIVE ATTITUDE and expect POSITIVE experience.

Your ATTITUDE will determine the path you will travel in, in life.

Whatever you PUT out there will eventually come back to you.

The ATMOSPHERE you carry around you is a reflection of your ATTITUDE.

POSITIVE ATTITUDE heals your body and vitalises your mind.

Your ATTITUDE will determine their ATTITUDE towards you.

Your ATTITUDE will determine how much of the future you are allowed to see.

No one has the RIGHT to CONTROL your ATTITUDE.

Act right, your attitude is your LIFE
